L12s in the fog

September 12th 2017 South in San Juan Channel to the fog bank on Salmon Bank to find Southern Resident Killer Whales from L pod – the L12 subgroup (10 whales in all). Such excitement finding them at the moment the L94’s were joining in some family tail-slapping. Later we joined up with two of the oldest whales in the community, L25 (female born est. 1928)  and L41 (male born 1977). Fog lifting and returning throughout our sail, but clearing in time for a pretty sunset.
