August 3, 2025 – Lots of wildlife on our sail around Flattop Island and Spieden Island including harbor seals with pups, nesting pigeon guillemots, newly fledged bald eagle chicks, adult bald eagles, and black oystercatchers. Garry Oak trees against glacial erratics. Honeycomb sandstone coastlines. Beautiful tranquility in the calm waters of New Channel. Calls of bald eagles, pigeon guillemots whistles and excited chatter of black oystercatchers. Harbor seals hauled out in the comfort of the mom’s protective eye. Pecking order for bald eagles and turkey vultures with something good to eat on the clam shell beach of Ripple Island.
