August 27, 2025 – We heard reports of Biggs/Transient orcas T49A’s hunting in New Channel so we sailed north. We cut through the Wasp Islands and Spring Pass seeing harbor seals and bald eagles and continued towards White Rock. The orcas had been sharing a meal west of White Rock and we met them there. As we arrived the orcas traveled at speed to White Rock giving a close pass to the island. They may have grabbed a harbor seal as we witnessed a couple spy hops and more milling before they passed White Rock again and headed north to Sandy Point, Waldron Island. We left them at Sandy Pt and sailed to Pt Disney. Continuing the Waldron coastline we saw a hawk before crossing to Turtleback Mountain on Orcas Island. Hugged the Orcas Island forested coastline and returned via the Wasp Islands to Friday Harbor.
