The heavily forested North Side of Speiden Island contrasts sharply with the grasslands on the South. Exotic animals were introduced when the island changed name to safari Island and hosted big game hunting in the ’70s. Sitka Deer from Asian, Moufon Sheep – the ancestral sheep domesticated by the Israelites and Fallow deer from Europe still call this island home as do the Eagles and Harbor seals and Steller Sea Lions. The island sold to the founder of Oakley Sunglasses for $22 million.
