T77s near Discovery Island

June 5, 2018 – Hearing of transient orcas heading north on the west side of San Juan Island we headed north on the east side to meet them near the top. We spotted 4 bald eagle nests one of which had two chicks peering over the top. After we passed Battleship and Lime Kiln Light the T77’s changed course for Canada. We sailed across Haro to meet them near Discovery Island. A tranquil setting as they travelled in sunset light. A minke whale was circling Salmon Bank. We saw a steller sea lion at Whale Rocks possibly playing with rubbish or perhaps fishing gear may be caught in his mouth
