Gray whale on Salmon Bank

May 15, 2021 – Sailed south after leaving Friday Harbor cutting behind Turn Island where harbor seals warmed up on the rocks. Passed by Goose Island cormorant rookery and over to Whale Rocks where a bald eagle, harbor seals and many Steller sea lions gathered. Out to Salmon Bank where we sailed with a gray whale (ID # CRC1364) whose been hanging out in our area for quite some time now. We enjoyed seeing the tail flukes raise high up in the air with each deep dive. After departing the gray we sailed by Cattle Pt Lighthouse and came inside of Deadman Island and back up San Juan Channel to Friday Harbor.
