Orcas T36’s, T77C with T77D and a sail around Blakely

June 24, 2021 – After cutting through the pass behind Turn Island we sailed on the rips of the flood tide to Flat Point, Lopez. Biggs/transient orcas, T77C, T77D, T36 with T36B’s, were just ahead of us and we met them as we sailed close to shore at Upright Head. The two males, T125A and T128, left the others to head into East Sound, and we sailed alongside T77C and T77D with the others ahead. From Frost Island to Thatcher Pass we caught up with the T36’s. When the whales headed for Anacortes we went north along the shoreline of Blakely Island admiring the forest and the bald eagles. Coming in through Peavine Pass we sailed back to Upright Head and enjoyed an amazing sunset as we sailed the shoreline of Shaw Island back to Friday Harbor.
