July 14, 2021 – Harbor seals are having their pups and the bald eagles are gathered nearby. It was low tide so harbor seals were hauled out warming in the sunshine in our favorite places such as the Wasp Islands, Flattop Island, Ripple Island, and the Cactus Islands. While returning via the south side of Spieden Island we heard a report of 19 pelicans landing by Stuart Island and a humpback whale northbound from Lime Kiln Park. We had thoughts to back track to try to find them, but they were out of range for our sail. We had some strong winds for sailing and a fun run back to Friday Harbor.
