Sail South to Long Island

June 2, 2002 – Wing on wing with the current clearing Turn Rock while watched over by a Bald Eagle. More Eagles gathered along the shoreline of Lopez as well as sitting atop the cormorant nests on Goose Island and atop the rocks of Whale Rocks. Other sights include a Loon, harbor seals, Steller sea lions and black oyster catcher. Rounding Long Island the current flipped and we returned with fast close hauled sailing on the flood carrying us to Shaw Island and back to port of Friday Harbor. Fun summer sails in paradise.
