Two black matte naked seals

July 6, 2022 – Trip highlights include raccoons on Turn Island, many bald eagles, many harbor seals hauled out by Pear Pt including our favorite “black matte naked seal”, Steller sea lions on Whale Rocks, cormorants on Goose Island, Cattle Pt Lighthouse, and oddly enough another “black matte naked seal” by Deadman Island! We’ve been documenting the naked seal for close to 6 years now – it was a total surprise to us today to see a second just like it! We’ll be sharing our photos with NOAA researchers since they took an interest in our finding years ago.
