Sail to Yellow Island Nature Preserve

April 7, 2024 – Today we planned a sailing adventure to visit the Nature Conservancy’s Yellow Island. We had nice winds for sailing and sunshine. As we left the harbor we spotted harbor porpoise and Steller sea lions. Cutting through the Wasp Islands we spotted harbor seals hauled out warming in the sun. Dropped anchor on the north side of Yellow Island and used our Bullfrog tender to bring our guests ashore. The island is full of white fawn lilies, chocolate lilies, hot pink shooting stars, and yellow buttercups. Red Indian paintbrush blooms are popping up and we spotted a few camas beginning to bloom. Looking forward to our next visit to see how many more flowers there will be.
