April 5, 2025 – We left Friday Harbor with news of Biggs orcas northbound in San Juan Channel. A group of Steller sea lions were hanging out near Minnesota Reef. Near Turn Island we met the T46B’s including their brand new family member, T46B3A, first spotted mid March. We were sailing against a strong ebb tide as the orcas made progress up the channel. As they approached Friday Harbor they became multi-directional with long dives with Steller sea lions grouped in their vicinity. They were milling there for about an hour before continuing north. We left them to drift the Shaw Island coastline where we found an adult and immature bald eagle just north of Hicks Pt before having a fast sail back to Friday Harbor.
