Sail around Turn Pt Lighthouse

June 10, 2025 – With a decent breeze we sailed north tacking our way through the Wasp Islands. Harbor seals were hauled out and a raccoon was foraging on the waterline at Reef Island. Fast sail through Spring Pass with a sporty beam reach to Flattop Island. We drifted by the south side spotting a bald eagle busy in its nest and what looked like a harbor seal with larger pup. Sailed to the north side and found an increasing number of pigeon guillemots. We debated heading to Skipjack Island and around Waldron but instead headed west through Ripple and the Cactus Islands to Spieden Island. Many black oystercatchers were entertaining us flying in circles around us while vocalizing. A pair of bald eagles was busy preening up in the tree top on Spieden Island. Caught the flood current to Turn Pt Lighthouse and Lovers Leap where a few harbor porpoises porpoised in the current. Circling Stuart we came through Johns Pass and rode the flood current to Green Pt and had a great sail down San Juan Channel.
