Humpback Whale BCX1706 “Pepper” near Iceberg Pt

June 26, 2025 – After leaving Friday Harbr we headed south and crossed the channel to Big Rock to cruise the Lopez coastline. We passed many sleepy harbor seals by Turn Island and Shark Reef. A sleepy looking bald eagle yawned as we sailed by Deadman Island. Made a stop by Whale Rocks to see the Steller sea lions before cruising around Long Island and Hall Island. Near Iceberg Pt, Lopez Island, we met a humpback whale known as BCX1706 “Pepper”. According to Happywhale.com “Pepper” goes to Mexico during winter breeding season and gender is unknown. Gorgeous conditions and beautiful views of the humpback whale with the Olympic Mountains as a back drop. Returned through Cattle Pass passing Goose Island in the distance. Spotted a bald eagle on Reid Rock channel marker before sailing into Friday Harbor.
