July 12, 2025 – We sailed north through the Wasp Islands and Spring Pass. As we rounded Flattop Island we met the Biggs/Transient orcas known as the T35A’s and T38A’s. We drifted in the strong ebb current passing the cliffs of Flattop Island and came around to the south side where we saw the bald eagles’ nest had two chicks and an adult in it. Harbor seals were spread along the honeycombed rocks on the south side. We met the orcas again as they swam towards Sandy Point spread out in loose groups. We watched them as they grouped up and swam south of Skipjack Island towards Mt Baker. We left them to explore the island. Skipjack Island had many harbor seals and Bare Island had just as many harbor seals and about 6 bald eagles engaged in eating something. Crossed Waldron Island to Lovers Cove and sailed slowly down the coastline of Orcas Island. Wind picked up as we approached Pt Caution to assist us in sailing back to Friday Harbor with a passenger at the helm.
