Great sailing to Flattop and back plus a harbor seal birth

August 2, 2025 – Another great sailing day where we sailed all the way to Flattop Island and back again. Highlights include a harbor seal giving birth on Low Island which we weren’t sure about until reviewing the photographs. Idyllic landscape of the honeycomb sandstone coastline offering warm haul out locations for the harbor seal moms with new pups. Pigeon guillemots gave chorus of high pitched whistles on the north side of Flattop Island. Black oystercatchers announced presence of bald eagles. A beautiful day in the San Juan Islands.
