Biggs/Transient Orcas T60’s northbound in Haro Strait

August 23, 2025 – With a report of Biggs/Transient orcas known as the T60’s northbound in Haro Strait near the westside of San Juan Island we sailed north. Keeping close to the San Juan Island shoreline through Spieden Channel to evade the flood current and cut through the pass by Battleship Island. We came down the Henry Island shoreline as the orcas came towards us after hunting in Open Bay, however they cut across the Strait towards Sidney Island and we met them after a fast sail. We sailed alongside listening to their blows in mirror calm water. Leaving them at Sidney Island to sail back to the north side of Spieden Island and take New Channel to Jones Island and the Wasp Islands. Gorgeous sunset as we headed back to Friday Harbor.
