August 30, 2025 – After casting off we headed north quickly on account of Biggs/Transient orcas known as the T75B’s up north circling Sucia Island. We cut through the Wasp Islands and up the forested north coast of Orcas Island to Lovers Cove before crossing President Channel to Waldron Island. As we crossed Boundary Pass it was clear there were two matrilines of orcas. We met the T124D’s heading towards Boiling Reef. We sailed alongside until they headed into Tumbo Channel. We then continued north meeting the T75B’s. They were prey-sharing with many gulls circling and traveling with them as their entourage. Gorgeous scenery with layers of islands and changing skies. Upon leaving the orcas we stopped by Skipjack Island and saw dozens of harbor seals hauled out in the warm evening light. Such a beautiful scene. We hustled quickly back down San Juan Channel enjoying a fiery sunset returning under moonlight.
