November 2, 2025 – North on the flood in San Juan Channel and we sailed quickly on account of a report of 2 male orcas Northbound in Haro Strait. We met T49A2 and T65A5 Biggs/Transient orcas at Davidson Head Eastbound in Spieden Channel. We sailed alongside as they crossed to Green Point and passed a large group of Steller sea lions grouped close together with heads raised high out of the water. Heading with the orcas towards Flattop Island and we noticed a humpback whale behind us in New Channel. The Orcas quickly doubled back at Flattop toward a large bait ball when they hunted a presumed harbor seal. We were treated to 2 spectacular spy hops from T65A5 at the end of the hunt. We left the orcas and headed back to New Channel hoping to find the humpback. The orcas rejoined us as we headed West along the forested shoreline in New Channel. Rain descended which made searching for the humpback tricky so we headed back toward Friday Harbor. BBQ sockeye salmon was cooked on the BBQs and we shut down for supper before retuning to Friday Harbor.
