May 11, 2026 – Sailed a beam reach on the ebb and wing on wing through Turn Island Pass. Harbor seals were warming in the late afternoon sun. We decided to head south where we heard a large “T Party” had gathered in Cattle Pass. The ebb current help us make good time and we met the orcas near Mummy Rocks and Charles Island. The orcas included T86A1’s, T86A3, T90’s, T100E, and T124A4’s with T46B1’s, T46C2, T123’s and T65A3. Sailing and drifting we dropped a hydrophone and the vocals were incredible. Playing and socialising in loose groups with orca breaches, tail slaps, and headstands. They slowly meandered through the rocks and islets of south Lopez Island coastline. We left them to head back on the flood current n the sunset via Whale Rocks Steller sea lion haul out.
