May 13, 2026 – Anticipating stronger winds today we sailed out of Friday Harbor with reefed sails. Four of our passengers were young pirate sailors excited for adventure. Seven knots under sail we ducked into the Wasp Islands calm conditions where the harbor seals were hauled out. Dropping anchor in the lee of Yellow Island we took the electric tender for a beach landing with our crew. The wildflowers are now past their peak but still beautiful waving in the winds. As we hiked around the west spit we noticed orcas passing (the T49A’s family) heading north. Winds increased a little and we sailed under second reef for our return to Friday Harbor.
