June 22, 2026 – Moderately strong north winds with a flood tide gave us a spritely close-hauled sail to Tift Rocks. We tacked back into the flood before tacking into a tour of the Wasp Islands. On Low Island we found cormorants, harbor seals and best of all three black oystercatcher chicks with their parents. The parent who returned with food began to feed the chicks while the other vocalized. We jibed and sailed back through Nob Island pass to Bird Rock seeing a good number of harbor seals were hauled out warming up in the sun. With a tack back to take us through the pass by Coon Island where we spotted a raccoon on the McConnell Island shoreline. Wing on wing to Shirt Tail Reef with a jibe to Cliff Island where an adult bald eagle maintained a watch near their nest. Downwind sail brought us back to Pt Caution to drift sail into Friday Harbor.
