Sunset Sail with Biggs/Transient Orcas T75B’s by Iceberg Pt

July 29, 2026 – With news of orcas to the south we decided to head south to see if we could incorporate them into our sunset sail. After departing Friday Harbor we took the narrow channel around Turn Island spotting a bald eagle in the tree tops. We passed the Goose Island cormorant rookery and stopped by Whale Rocks to see the Steller sea lion colony. As we approached Mackaye Harbor we spotted the blows and dorsal fins of Biggs/Transient orcas known as the T75B’s. We saw them earlier in the day near Smith Island before they headed north trailing us towards Lopez Island. We had some lovely views in the golden evening light as they traveled towards Iceberg Pt. We came about to head for home as the sun set and a full moon rise lit up the sky. Spectacular trip.
