New Channel to Johns Pass

April 8, 2021 – After raising the main sail we hugged the coastline North in San Juan Channel on the flood. At Pt Caution we crossed the channel to check out the Wasp Islands and get a view of the wildflowers in bloom on Yellow Island. Zipped back across the channel to Limestone Pt before crossing Spieden Channel to Green Pt where the sea lions were hanging out.

With the strong current against us we stayed in the back eddies close to Spieden Island as we travelled through New Channel spotting bald eagles, harbor seals and a Peregrine falcon. A quick scan of Haro Strait before cutting through Johns Pass where we had a fantastic close hauled sail down to Ripple Island. We sailed to get a view of the Cactus Islands and Flattop Island before heading back to Port.
