June 1, 2023 – A gorgeous day in the islands. Harbor seals were hauled out. Steller Sea Lions on Green Pt were accompanied by a California sea lion. Southern Resident J pod orcas were moving south in Haro Strait from Stuart Island and we got a quick glimpse of the trailers as they went by.
We circumnavigated Stuart Island and got a look at Turn Point Lighthouse. Bald eagles stood nearby their nests including a chick peering out of its nest on Flattop Island which we didn’t see until we looked at photos when we got home. Flattop Island was busy with pigeon guillemots and a family of four river otters catching supper.
