July 8, 2025 – After casting off we headed inter-island with news of a family of Biggs/Transient orcas, the T46B’s, moving north in Rosario Strait. We came through Peavine Pass and met the orcas who were traveling slowing moving with the speed of the current with a back drop of Mt Baker. They gave a close pass by Pea Pod Rocks but didn’t stop to hunt. Several bald eagles were engaging on the rocks likely eating something. Near Lawrence Pt the orcas came in close to the beautiful steep forested coastline. We broke away to check out the Sister Islands and Clark Island. Sailed across to the top of Orcas Island and hugged the coastline as we came down President Channel. Yellow Island had several mom/pup pairs of harbor seals on the east spit, and we spotted one of the black oystercatcher chicks with its parent on Low Island. Our young passenger took the helm on the way back and brought us back to Friday Harbor.
