August 8, 2025 – There was a report of Biggs/Transient orcas T109A’s in Lopez Sound. We sailed across to Shaw Island and up Upright Channel to meet the orcas near Thatcher Pass. Slow travel and socializing their way through the pass with a maze of boats and ferries. They turned and went back into the pass and we left them to continue drifting the strong current along the forested shoreline of Blakely Island. Coming back through Peavine Pass we met the orcas again in Upright Channel as they were finishing a hunt. Tacked our way inside Canoe Island seeing the orcas one more time as they traveled up the Shaw Island coastline in San Juan Channel.
