Biggs/Transient Orcas T19’s by Sentinel Island

August 9, 2025 – We left Friday Harbor with heavy fog lifting gradually exposing the landscape around us. An osprey was seen near Pt Caution – a first for us in this location. Crossing to the Wasp Islands we picked up a report of Biggs/Transient orcas T19’s in Spieden Channel. Time was short but we decided to go for it and met the orcas at Sentinel Island. They were circling the island looking for seals and reversed course towards us giving us a good view. We returned by way of the Spieden Island shoreline before returning down the coast of San Juan Island back to Friday Harbor.
