Biggs/Transient Orcas T60D and T60E join T36’s near Friday Harbor

Sept 28, 2025 – We headed north in San Juan Channel but on approaching Neck Pt we had a report of orcas coming north through Cattle Pass. Spinning around and sailing south we received second report of orcas in Friday Harbor. Seeing distant blows outside of Brown Island we met Biggs/Transient orca brothers, T60D and T60E, at the south entrance of Friday Harbor. Beautiful views as they came through the narrow pass around Turn Island. Rounding Danger Rock came the second group of orcas, the T36’s. Six orcas of four generations, T36 being close to 55 years old while the youngest, T36B1A, born of January 2025. The two brothers joined them and they moved north together traveling very slowly passed Friday Harbor and up to the Wasp Islands. While passing Turn Rock we got to see the sea otter napping in the kelp. We left the orcas near Yellow Island and returned via the Wasp Islands to sail back to the harbor.
