June 11, 2026 – Southbound through Turn Island Pass with its haul out of harbor seals, across Griffin Bay and passing the cormorant rookery on Goose Island in Cattle Pass. We met Biggs/Transient orcas T123’s east of Salmon Bank. Shortly after we arrived they changed course to the north coming in towards Long Island. We left them at Whale Rocks to see the Steller sea lions and they caught the fastest part of the current to scoot in through Cattle Pass over 11 knots. We headed north by way of Deadman Island seeing bald eagles watching over the scene. We caught up with the orcas again near Big Rock and sailed alongside to Upright Channel. Steering to port to ride the current up the coastline of Shaw Island we met another family of Biggs/Transient orcas the T100’s coming north of Reef Island towards Deer Harbor. They came back out through the Wasp Islands into San Juan Channel with a quick chase of a harbor porpoise. A spectacular sail with whales.
