July 5, 2026 – We left Friday Harbor and sailed north to the Wasp Islands. There was a report of orcas, the T100’s (minus T100B’s and T100E), circling Flattop Island so we kept our speed up to head for Spring Pass to Flattop Island. We met the orcas as they came around the south side of Flattop and sailed alongside towards Pt Disney. We left the orcas to return to Flattop to explore the coastline where many harbor seals with new pups were hauled out and an adult bald eagle was near its chick the nest. On hearing the orcas had changed course for White Rock we did the same. Some nice views as they circled White Rock where many harbor seals were hauled out and bald eagles were engaged in eating something on top of the island. The orcas who had been northbound from White Rock then changed course to the south towards Flattop Island. We split off to cut through Ripple Island, and the Cactus Islands and to check out the north side of Spieden Island in New Channel. A good sail south down San Juan Channel where we caught up with the T100’s again as they traveled towards Friday Harbor.
