August 1, 2026 – The day began with rain sprinkles so we donned our rain gear before we cast off. That’s one way to make the rain stop! Soon enough the sun began to break through the clouds. We headed south today with thoughts to circumnavigate Lopez Island and search for whales and wildlife along the way. Harbor seals and bald eagles were around every corner. We also spotted two different eaglets with their nests, cormorants, gulls with chicks, black oystercatchers, belted kingfishers, black tailed deer and various diving birds plus Steller sea lions. We saw just about everything with the exception of a whale.
