Full day South in the Fog

August 14, 2026 – Sailed south into the magical ribbons of sea mist. The sea otter was near Turn Rock and harbor seals were hauled out near Reef Pt. We tacked our way with the benefit of the ebb towards Cattle Pass. Riding the edge of the fog with the tree tops visible passing Deadman Island with bald eagles, seals and black oystercatchers. Out to Whale Rocks to see the Steller sea lions and to watch the fog dissipate. Circled Long Island and came out to Salmon Bank. Minke whales had been seen here the previous day but not today. Returned on the flood current with a pause to stop by Goose Island to see nesting cormorants, gulls and resting harbor seals.
