August 29, 2026 – With the report of the T49A’s orcas eastbound in New Channel we headed north. We also knew the orcas of the T100’s and T101’s were south of Lopez Island headed southwest. As we sailed we heard the T100’s and T101’s had met the T60’s and began to head north towards San Juan Island. So when the T49A’s exited New Channel and headed north we were exploring the Wasp Islands and decided to change course to the south. The T100’s and T101’s veered to the east while the T60’s came in through Cattle Pass. We sailed through Turn Island Pass and tacked to the south to meet them. Incredible views as they came into the rocks at Reef Pt and hunted a harbor seal before continuing north. We left them for awhile to visit the sea otter at Turn Rock and rejoined to sail parallel as they traveled the Shaw Island coastline. Some good views as they cut through the Wasp Islands and the shoreline of Jones Island. They then continued towards Green Pt and we had good views against the sun. Leaving the whales we tacked down San Juan Channel to round out the day before returning to Friday Harbor.
