Sunset dinner cruise to New Channel and Flattop

September 13 2026 – Great day for sailing. After hugging the San Juan coastline up to Pt Caution we sailed across to the Wasp Islands. Harbor seals were hauled out on both the east and west beaches of Yellow Island. Continuing up the channel we veered towards Spieden Island. We found Steller sea lions hauled out on Green Pt – first time we’ve seen them hauled out here since they left for breeding season end of May. Mouflon sheep and rams were out grazing, bald eagles roosted in trees, belted kingfishers called as they flew from tree to tree, and harbor seals rested along the shoreline. We cut through the Cactus Islands and over to Flattop Island where we enjoyed BBQ supper. Returned back through Spring Pass and tacked our way back to Friday Harbor.
