T34’s and T37’s Biggs Orcas North up Swanson Channel

April is 7th, 2022 – A sad day in Friday Harbor as a large fire burned historic buildings of downtown. I was assigned on exposure protection and the fire was sufficiently under control that I could hand over hose and doff bunker gear to make todays charter. Away from the dock we headed North after hearing of Orcas. Passing through New Channel and the shoreline of Stuart Island we crossed to Moresby. Up into Swanson Channel in British Columbia to see the Biggs/Transient orcas known as the T34’s (minus T34A1) and the T37’s. Other trip highlights included over a dozen bald eagles, Turn Point Lighthouse and Lovers Leap on Stuart Island, beautiful New Channel with many harbor seals hauled out, and 200+ Stellar sea lions at Green Point, Spieden Island.
