April 23, 2026 – Before casting off from Friday Harbor we had been monitoring reports of two male orcas in East Sound, Orcas Island. They were orcas we’d seen the day before southbound in Haro Strait known as T49A2 (born 2007) with T51 (born ~1981). We arrived on scene as the boys were southbound in East Sound hugging the beautiful coastline of Orcas island before taking Cayou Channel. Incredible views. Fun sailing. Birthday celebrations. A great day on the water.
Other wildlife seen: bald eagles, harbor seals, common loon, black tailed deer, a Steller sea lion eating a fish
