July 21, 2026 – With reports of Biggs/Transient orcas known as the T100’s at Middle Bank we headed south. We cut through Turn Island pass and quickly moved towards Cattle Pass. Passing Goose Island we noticed many gull chicks, cormorants on their nests and a bald eagle roosting on Cattle Point Lighthouse. The orcas were moving up island about 5 miles ahead of us. We finally caught up at Kellett Bluff, Henry Island. Some direction changes at Battleship Island and some good views as they hugged the San Juan Island shoreline. We left the orcas to cross to Spieden Island only to find the orcas also changed course towards Sentinel Island. So we doubled back for some more views at Sentinel Rock then rounding into New Channel. After viewing backlit blows in the mirror calm waters north of Spieden Island we left to head for home. Black oystercatcher chicks were exploring the barnacles with a parent.
