September 7, 2026 – After casting off from Friday Harbor we encountered a family of Biggs/Transient orcas, the T49A’s, as they were coming south in San Juan Channel. They skirted the entrance to Friday Harbor and took the narrow channel around Turn Island State Park. After rounding Pear Pt they came into Dinner Island before following the coastline in Griffin Bay towards Cattle Pt. We left the whales to continue our sunset sail back to the harbor. Other wildlife seen include harbor seals, a bald eagle and a common loon.
