September 17, 2026 – With a report of Biggs/Transient orcas known as the T19s passing Friday Harbor we mustered our passengers to head out ASAP. Winds were moderate from the North and we raised sails to help gain speed to catch up. Passed through Turn Island pass and stayed close to shore to avoid the slight flood current. The T19s took this route yesterday morning and came into Griffin Bay. Luckily for us they came into Dinner Island which gave us the opportunity to catch up and sail a parallel course as they followed the San Juan shore-line South. Lovely views in the late morning sunshine. We left them after they cleared Goose Island and we headed for whale rocks to view the Steller sea lions. Returned by way of Deadman Island where harbor seals were hauled out and the Lopez coastline. Other wildlife included Belted Kingfisher and Great Blue Heron
