September 18, 2026 – Set sail to the south today running a line where the fog was lifting. We passed the sea otter at Turn Rock, a juvenile bald eagle, and the harbor seals hauled out. Tacked our way down San Juan Channel before passing Deadman Island. Here we found a great blue heron, adult bald eagle and more harbor seals. The ebb current took us out to Whale Rocks where a fun view of the Steller sea lions. Made tracks to the south end of Salmon Bank finding the minke whale nicknamed “Dent”. We shut down to serve and eat BBQ dinner and dessert while the minke whale surfaced around us. Lovely views. Our return came passed Goose Island cormorant rookery and more harbor seals followed by the cut through Turn Island for perfect end of summer sail.
