Biggs/Transient Orcas T37B’s southbound San Juan Channel

October 23, 2026 – With new of the Biggs/transient orca family known as at the  T37B’s Southbound towards Point Caution we summoned passengers for a hasty departure. Skies were blue with a North wind and we raised sails outside Friday Harbor as the whales approached and passed towards Turn Island. Lovely views as they headed South inside Turn Rock however they didn’t stop to hunt harbor seals but carried on towards Cattle Pass. A large group of cormorants had gathered in the waters near Goose Island and as the orcas cleared Cattle Point we headed over the Whale Rocks to see the Steller sea lions playing and cavorting in the waters and on the rocks. Heading North passed Daedman Island we saw bald eagle and harlequin ducks along with harbor seals. We found out local sea otter near Turn Rock along with more harlequin ducks. Returned home in afternoon light as the sun lowered behind the town of Friday Harbor.
