September 6, 2026 – With a report of Biggs/Transient orcas known as the T65B’s southbound in President Channel we sailed north. We met the orcas coming out of the Wasp Islands near Neck Point, Shaw Island. We let them pass while serving and eating BBQ supper. Lovely views as they round Pt George in the evening light on the Shaw Island coastline. They went into Hicks Bay and began hunting a harbor seal(s) for supper. At one point an orca spy hopped with the seal hanging out of its mouth held on by its teeth. Stunning views of backlit blows of the orcas working together. We left them to sail home but on arriving into the harbor we found they made it there before us. As the sun fell below the horizon the orcas moved into the ferry pilings to hunt again. They were hunting a harbor seal once again. All of downtown Friday Harbor were lined up on docks and restaurants watching.
