Sail South to Salmon Bank

October 11, 2026 – We sailed north tacking against the ebb along the coastline of Shaw Island. From Neck Pt north the wind and sea conditions suggested heading south. Nice close view of the coastline of Shaw Island before crossing to Turn Island and finding the sea otter south of Turn Island Pass. On down to Cattle Pass passing the cormorant rookery on Goose Island and out to Salmon Bank. Conditions were lovely but we didn’t see any minke whales or humpback whales down here today. Sailing back to Whale Rocks to see the Steller sea lion haul out then passed Deadman Island seeing a few harbor seals. Returned by way of Turn Island Pass with a birthday cake treat for one of our passengers along the way.
